Hertfordshire (Other and North London) • Re: Tell me about The Latymer School

Note: I'm not starting a new thread as I found previous comments in this thread helpful in terms of learning more about Latymer.

Similar to the OP's situation, my DD is in the top 192 for Latymer (from the January 2025 rank, and we live in catchment and listed Latymer first on our CAF form so will likely get a place on NAD). And whilst we were certain the school was for her, but we are now undecided.

Context: DD attends a private primary girls school. In addition to Latymer (grammar), last Friday we learnt that DD was offered 11+ places from a number of selective private girls schools, hence now we are undecided and want to research more about Latymer.

My question to Latymer parents is "how female pupils are treated at Latymer?" Reason I ask is because when we took DD to a mock exam at Latymer last summer, we saw a few posters in the school saying that the school doesn't tolerate s****** harrassment. And also during a school open day last year, in a Maths classroom, there were current female pupils presenting specifically about how girls perform in Maths at Latymer, with a powerpoint said "At Latymer girls perform equally as well in maths as boys." Coming from all-girls primary school, DD and I were not sure how female pupils, in general, were treated or regarded at school?

Latymer is an amazing school, no doubt, that's why DD worked very hard to pass the exam. But now as we are closer to decision deadline time (for private schools), we are wondering if there are any current parents whose DD attends Latymer who could please share their DD's experience at school please.

Note: I appreciate every school has their own issues, be it co-ed v single sex, or state grammar v private. But I'm just curious how is it like to be female pupils at Latymer, where majority of pupils are male. Thank you.
