A few of friend’s kids went to DAO and thrived. I think the site is definitely better and DAO is much more competitive to get into. Latymer students are very independent, so that suits children that don’t need too much encouragement. Just depends on the child, whether they would maintain the 11+ work ethic throughout the school journey. Latymer doesn’t seem to be very all rounded, basically academically driven school, but this is what you would
expect from grammar.

goodness me, sounds like you are trying to discourage people from going to Latymer!
Latymer is actually very well rounded IMO. Where did you get the impression it's not? The range of extra-circular activities is very wide.

In terms of results the schools are sufficiently close that I would select based on other factors. E.g. travel, siblings, subject focus ( Latymer seems a bit more focused on maths and sciences - most kids do A-level maths ! ) and school ethos. etc.

BTW - Regarding school ethos, DAO's head last year stated "we are an academically focused school. We don't do vocational courses. Don't send your kids here if they aren't academically inclined". We were surprised and irritated by her attitude. Based on that statement DAO is definitely "academically driven"
