Make sure you get a sick note from a medical person dated the exam day - if he is ill that day. You must see someone on that day and have evidence of it. My son was sick on one of his 11+ days. It was around the covid time and we could not get an appointment to see the GP that day - so we called the out of hours surgery and got a prescription. This created a huge issue with the school as we did not have any evidence for illness on the day - the GPs view was that as they didn't see my son on the day they could not write anything confirming his illness. Roll forward 2 years and my daughter was ill the day of her 11+ (second stage) - straight to A&E. Lots of sitting around at the hospital = simple interaction with the school. Lesson learned.
